Book Club Gathering #10
After a book like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, it was quite a contrast to read The Persian Pickle Club, by Sandra Dallas. It is a book about a close knit group of women in Kansas during the Depression. It was a perfect fit for our book club, since we are a group of women who gather together to do something we love (in the book, the women gather to quilt). We met at Cindy's home and enjoyed a meal of strawberry spinach salad with chicken, corn/bean salad, pasta salad, homemade rolls, finished off with Mocha Brownies and Spice Cake. Since there wasn't anything controversial about this book, our discussion was light. We shared our thoughts on the book, talked about friendship, and of course talked about its ending (can't possibly give it away). The book really did make me reflect on the significance of friendship in a woman's life- I really am so grateful for the women in mine who have continued to be there for me with their support and encouragement!
